We have planned the positions and quantity of the Rose and Peony planting in the eight central beds. Planting will take place throughout the Autumn.
The edging of the beds and clearance of the oblong beds alongside the central beds will start to take place in the Spring.
The pond in the centre of the eight beds has been cleared. Unfortunately as a result of dogs entering the pond and stones and other debris being thrown in, the fountain has been damaged. This may result in the pond eventually having to be covered in some way.
We hope the rebuilding of the corner Gazebos will start this year. We still have concerns relating to the replacement of the Wisteria avenue supports. At the moment the existing supports are sound.
The main works are the replacement of the corner gazebos and the framework of the Wisteria Avenue.
The timber framework of the wisteria avenue is sound, but would deteriorate in time. There are concerns that if the replacement of the timber structures is not carried out by professionals the existing Wisteria could be permanently damaged.
The Friends of Peckham Rye Park have funded the re instatement of the irrigation system and will further help with funding of the planting within the Garden.
